So we're going to be launching Nekobook again for 2015, I put up a personal announcement and realised that there's been a lot of questions people have been asking in regards to the applications, so I'll try to answer as much as I can here.Minimum requirements:
Here's the three main requirements that we're asking, we want this to be as open as possible but we do have three requests.
1. Initiate
Basically you are responsible for getting the photo, finding a photographer, modelling, getting clothing, basically if you are interested in getting involved you will find a way and put in the effort, we are unable to help specific individuals with finding outfits or photographers.
2. Effort
We ask that all photos put in effort, so obvious number rule, no selfies, no instagram pics, however you can use them as starting points to ask us what we think of the idea. No lazy backgrounds, so get out of your bedroom or bathroom, studio is good but we want to keep studio shots to a minimum, we prefer people out in the wild and can look dull if there's too much white space. Also get a decent camera/photographer involved, make it look professional, even if it's going to charity, people won't pay for the calendar without decent quality images.
3. Resolution
While the photos may look good on the computer, printing is a totally different ball game. Basically we need a horizontal picture of 2480 x 3508 pixels, less than this it will pixelate and blur. There will be a hole punched in the top so be careful featuring around the whole.
Selection Process
The most frequently asked question is what are we looking for, I can not stress this enough, variety. I don't want a calendar of 12 identical looking people and outfits. We are not necessarily picking the 12 best photos but rather 12 unique different photos that stick out. Get creative, get interesting and we honestly can't make a strong decision till later on in the process. There will be a second person involved in the selection this year who has had far more experience in modelling and photography than I have.
Catboys?
With 0 applicants last year, it was a pretty easy but sad decision not to do one, we hope that this changes this year. We will be re-assessing the situation a few times throughout the selection process, while we are keen on doing one and we know there was demand, we can only make one if we have enough catboys in the calendar. We may look at a mixed calendar potentially with catgirls who missed out on the original calendar.
Application Dates
The final date will be October 15th. We will be looking at doing some selections and applications earlier as a reward for those who submitted in earlier, I will have more details on this soon.
